Hello & Welcome to MommyCakes, My little "slice" of Heaven!

My name is Lori, and I am the sole Creator/Owner of MommyCakes, LLC, located in the heart of Pike Creek, Delaware. My passion for baking began when I was just a little girl as I would join my mom in the kitchen every Christmas to bake cookies. Coming from a large Italian family, our Christmas cookies far surpassed your traditional recipes. Whereas the usual child would bore until it was time to "taste test", i loved every step of the baking process; from measuring, to combining, to mixing, baking, cooling, displaying, okay yes, then eating! Baking always felt like "home" to me.

Fast forward to adulthood when I myself became a mommy & began trying my hand at custom cakes for my kid's birthdays and other special events. Soon enough, family members began requesting baked goods, which led to word of mouth and a building of a customer-base. Just like that, I found myself running a full-fledged side hustle and I loved it. I began truly enjoying the art of independent research when it came to different recipes, ingredients, and baking methods, and quickly began to build my brand.

"So you just stay home all day & bake cakes?"

No, my friends (although, that sounds wonderful). On a personal level, I am a mama of 2 (boy & girl), and married to my best friend who is a full-time paid Firefighter (that shift work scheduling, IYKYK!). On a professional level, I received my Bachelors in Special Education from Wilmington University in 2014, and my Masters in Applied Behavior Analysis with a Focus on Autism Spectrum Disorders in 2023,  and work full-time as a Direct Support Provider within the Autism community.

 

My plate is certainly full, and so is my heart, and I appreciate every single one of you for supporting my small business dreams!
